Upright Vacuum Deals
Dyson Ball Animal 2
The deal: $399 at Walmart, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Macy’s
Savings: $100
The 17-pound Dyson Ball Animal 2 earns an Excellent rating for removing pet hair—a good thing, considering its name. It’s also a beast on bare floors and almost as good on carpet. This vacuum won’t spew debris back into the room, although emptying the bin can stir up some dust. It comes with attachments that help you get into tight spaces. At 20 percent off, it’s worth a look.

Dyson Ball Multi Floor 2
The deal: $299 at Walmart, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Macy’s
Savings: $100
The Dyson Ball Multi Floor 2 is aces at cleaning bare floors and picking up pet hair. At 16 pounds it’s easy to maneuver around a room, although it’s noisier than some vacuums. It comes with some handy attachments, including an upholstery brush and a crevice tool. It’s a bagless design, so emptying the bin can be a bit messy. At 25 percent off, this is a better deal than its brandmate above.

Kenmore Pet Friendly CrossOver 31220
The deal: $205 at Amazon
Savings: $45
At 18 pounds, the bagless Kenmore Pet Friendly Crossover 31220 is about average weight for an upright. In our tests, bare-floor cleaning was top-notch and, true to its name, it earns an Excellent rating at picking up piles of cat fur. It falls short of our top marks for carpet cleaning but still earns an impressive Very Good rating. And unlike some bagless models, it excels at retaining the debris it picks up. One caveat: This Kenmore is noisy. The 20 percent discount puts it in an affordable price range.

Shark Apex DuoClean Powered Lift-Away Speed AX912
The deal: $278 at Amazon
Savings: $72
This 16-pound Shark Apex DuoClean Powered Lift-Away Speed AX912 is a good choice if you have mixed flooring and no pets: It earns only a Good rating on our pet hair removal test but does a better job on carpeting and bare floors. It handles well and doesn’t spew dust back into the room, but it’s bagless, so you have to empty the dustbin. This vacuum usually sells for $350, so you’re saving about 20 percent.

Shark Apex DuoClean Zero-M Powered Lift-Away AZ1002
The deal: $350 at Amazon
Savings: $50
The 17-pound Shark Apex DuoClean Zero-M Powered Lift-Away AZ1002 is bagless and has micro-filtration, as well as a detachable handheld canister and a 30-foot manual-wind cord. This high-end Shark is laden with bells and whistles, yet it underperforms in CR’s most important test: It rates just Good for cleaning carpet, a score that trails many uprights. That said, it cleans bare floors and pet hair especially well, it has exceptional suction power, and its emissions are free of debris. This vacuum usually sells for $400.

Shark DuoClean Powered Lift-Away NV831
The deal: $299 at JCPenney
Savings: $300
At 50 percent off, the Shark DuoClean Powered Lift-Away NV831 is a good choice if you have a mixture of bare floors and carpeting in your home. It’s not the best bet for pet hair, though, earning only a Good on that test. The emissions from this 18-pound model are dust-free.

Shark Rotator Powered Lift-Away Speed NV680
The deal: $198 at Walmart
Savings: $62
At 14 pounds, the Shark Rotator Powered Lift-Away Speed NV680 is one of the lighter uprights in our tests, but it’s no lightweight at cleaning. It’s also one of the quietest bagless uprights, earning a Very Good rating for noise. It does a solid job of getting embedded dirt out of carpets, plus it’s a beast at removing pet hair, a must if you have a dog or cat. This vacuum is great at keeping debris from flying back into the room, and it handles very well. The cord is 30 feet long. At this price it’s almost 25 percent off.

Shark DuoClean Powered Lift-Away Speed NV800
The deal: $219 at Amazon and Walmart
Savings: $80
At 15 pounds the bagless Shark DuoClean Powered Lift-Away Speed NV800 is one of the lighter uprights on this list. It earns an Excellent rating for cleaning bare floors and is almost as good at removing pet hair. But cleaning carpet is a challenge, so it’s not the best choice for homes with rugs. Emissions are clean—no debris is released back into the room—and it handles well. The cord is 30 feet long. The 25 percent discount is in keeping with its brandmate above.
Canister Vacuum Deals
Miele Blizzard CX1 Cat & Dog
The deal: $500 at Wayfair
Savings: $200
The Miele Blizzard CX1 Cat & Dog canister is usually on the pricey side, so at almost 30 percent off, this is a generous discount. And it’s one of the best bagless canisters you can buy. It earns an Excellent rating on our bare floors and pet hair tests. But it’s not so great when it comes to cleaning carpet. This vacuum also performs well in our emissions testing, meaning it doesn’t release debris back into the air.

Stick Vacuum Deals
Shark Ion F80 Cord-Free MultiFlex IF281
The deal: $239 at Amazon
Savings: $211
This 8.8-pound Shark Ion F80 Cord-Free MultiFlex IF281 tackles pet hair and bare floors with ease but struggles on carpet, so it might not be the best option if you have rugs everywhere in your home. It comes with two batteries, so technically you’re getting twice the cleaning time—in our tests it ran for 24 minutes on one battery charge. This model usually lists for $450, so you’re saving about 50 percent.

Shark Ion X40 Cord-Free Ultra-Light IR141
The deal: $220 at Amazon
Savings: $80
The cordless Shark Ion X40 Cord-Free Ultra-Light IR141 is very quiet and earns a rating of Excellent in our noise tests. It does a great job in our bare floors and pet hair cleaning tests, but when it comes to cleaning carpet, its performance is only so-so. This vacuum also performs well in our emissions testing, meaning that if you have allergies and are sensitive to dust, this vacuum might be a great choice. This vacuum usually sells for $300, so you’re getting 25 percent off.

Shark SharkFlex DuoClean Ultra-Light Corded HV391
The deal: $189 at Amazon
Savings: $111
With a 30-foot cord, you don’t have to worry about the Shark SharkFlex DuoClean Ultra-Light Corded HV391 running out of battery charge like you would with a cordless model. You’re saving about 30 percent and getting a vacuum that aces all our main cleaning tests—carpets, bare floors, and pet hair. And it won’t emit any dust and debris back into the room you just cleaned: It earns an Excellent rating for clean emissions.

Tineco Pure One S12
The deal: $550 at Amazon
Savings: $50
An all-around excellent performer, the high-end Tineco Pure One S12 is feature-filled, and its cleaning ability is impressive, earning top marks on all our cleaning tests, including an Excellent score for pet hair. An LED panel on the top of the handle displays the power level and battery time remaining, and lets you know if you have a clog or tangle. You can adjust the power settings by swiping up or down on the screen, and a dust sensor detects the amount of debris and adapts the suction power accordingly. It runs very quietly, and emissions are clean. The discount isn’t as deep here, but you get a lot of extras—and great performance.
Robotic Vacuum Deals
Bobsweep PetHair
The deal: $189 at Walmart
Savings: $85
Looking for an inexpensive robotic vacuum? The Bobsweep PetHair is a good choice. It’s not as smart as some robotics—our testers note that it sometimes gets stuck under furniture and rolls over its charging station—but it has a big dustbin and is terrific at picking up pet hair.

Samsung Powerbot R7040
The deal: $349 at Amazon, Home Depot, and Best Buy
Savings: $150
A top robotic vacuum in our ratings, the Samsung Powerbot R7040 packs a punch with how well it cleans both carpet and bare floors. It earns an Excellent rating in our evaluation for ease of use, meaning this vacuum is fairly simple to program and maintain. It comes with a remote control.
